Venue management software for Singapore ballrooms, event spaces and function rooms
Singapore venues sell in their own units. Wedding banquets are priced per table of ten, corporate dinners per head with a minimum spend, and most quotes end in two plus signs: service charge and GST to be added. Popular dates fill a year ahead, and a ballroom that can split into three has to be sold three ways at once. This page sets out what venue management software should handle for a Singapore venue, the IRAS rules on pricing and invoices that apply, and the tests to run in a demo.

Per table pricing, minimum tables and the peak dates
A wedding banquet quote in Singapore usually starts from a price per table for lunch or dinner, a minimum number of tables, and a package of inclusions such as the wine pour, the wedding cake display and a room for the night. The final bill depends on how many tables are confirmed, which often moves until two weeks before the date.
Your software should price in tables as well as in heads, enforce the minimum, and show what each extra table adds to the total including service charge and GST. Couples also cluster around dates they consider auspicious or memorable, so holds on those Saturdays need expiry dates and a waiting list behind them. A venue that lets a hold on a popular date sit for a month without follow up is giving away revenue.
Corporate events work differently. A product launch or dinner and dance is priced per head with a food and beverage minimum, and the client wants the AV, stage and registration counter listed separately.

- Illustrative prices shown before service charge and GST, not a rate card.
- Service charge of 10% is applied first, then GST of 9% on the price and the service charge.
- Quotes shown before GST must carry a prominent statement that prices are subject to GST and service charge.
Service charge, GST and the rule on showing prices
GST is 9%, and IRAS is clear that it is charged on both the goods or services and the service charge. Food and beverage of S$100 with a 10% service charge becomes S$110, and GST on that is S$9.90, so the client pays S$119.90.
GST registered businesses must normally show and quote prices to the public inclusive of GST. IRAS allows an exception for businesses that impose a service charge: they may show prices before GST and service charge as long as a prominent statement such as 'Prices are subject to GST and service charge' is displayed. The exception does not cover hotels or F&B businesses that do not impose a service charge, or that add a nominal one only to avoid showing GST inclusive prices.
For a venue, that means your quote template must apply service charge before GST, show both clearly, and carry the required statement if you quote ++ prices. Registration is compulsory once taxable turnover exceeds S$1 million.
- Order of calculation: price, then service charge, then GST on both.
- Quoting ++ prices: allowed with a prominent statement if you genuinely charge a service charge.
- Simplified tax invoice: allowed when the total payable including GST is S$1,000 or less.
InvoiceNow: what is changing for GST registered venues
IRAS is phasing in the GST InvoiceNow Requirement, under which GST registered businesses transmit invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow solutions. IRAS has announced that the requirement will extend to all GST registered businesses by April 2031, with earlier dates for new registrants.
Check which date applies to your business on the IRAS page. Venura produces quotes, invoices and receipts but is not an InvoiceNow solution and does not transmit to IRAS, so a venue that falls under the requirement will need an InvoiceNow ready accounting system alongside it.
What to test in a demo before choosing venue management software in Singapore
| Test | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Per table pricing with a minimum | Quote 30 tables against a 30 table minimum, drop to 28 and check the shortfall is shown. |
| Service charge before GST | Check 10% service charge is added first and 9% GST is charged on the price plus service charge.[1] |
| ++ statement on quotes | Print a quote with ++ pricing and confirm the GST and service charge statement appears.[1] |
| Split ballroom | Book the full ballroom and confirm each section is blocked, then book one section alone. |
| Setup and teardown buffers | Set a four hour setup before a dinner and check a morning seminar cannot overlap it. |
| Progress payments | Record a deposit and a six month progress payment and check the balance on the final invoice. |
| Tax invoice details | Print a tax invoice and check your GST registration number and the GST amount appear.[2] |
Ballrooms that split, shophouses that do not
Hotel ballrooms often divide into two or three sections with air walls. Selling the full ballroom for a wedding must block every section, and selling one section must leave the others free for a seminar. The calendar should know which rooms make up which, and the setup times either side of each event, because a 400 guest dinner needs the room from early afternoon.
Smaller venues have the opposite problem. A restored shophouse or rooftop space has one room and many uses, from a private dinner to a brand activation, and the owner needs to see buffer time for setup and teardown so two events are never squeezed into one evening.
Deposits, progress payments and the final table count
Wedding banquets in Singapore are often booked a year or more ahead, with a deposit at signing, one or two progress payments and the balance after the final table count. Each payment is a separate receipt, and the couple will ask for a statement showing what has been paid and what is left more than once.
Your software should hold the payment schedule on the booking, send reminders before each due date, and recalculate the balance when the table count changes. If the guaranteed count drops below the minimum, the shortfall charge should appear on the statement automatically, with service charge and GST applied the same way as the rest of the bill.
Where Venura fits for a Singapore venue
Venura keeps enquiries in a pipeline and events on a calendar that warns about double bookings, then turns each booking into a quote, an invoice and receipts with your own tax and service charge lines. Deposits and progress payments are tracked against each event, event sheets reach the banquet team, and staff roles control who sees pricing.
It runs on the web, Android and iOS, documents can be shared by email or WhatsApp, and there is a free 30 day trial. Pricing for Singapore venues is quoted on request. As noted above, Venura does not transmit invoices through InvoiceNow or connect to your accounting system.
Run the demo with a real banquet
Bring a real booking: a 38 table dinner with a minimum of 30 tables, a ++ price per table, a deposit at signing and a progress payment six months out. Ask the vendor to build the quote live, then drop the count to 32 tables, then add an extra table on the day.
If the service charge, the GST and the balance are right after each change, the software understands how Singapore venues sell. If the presenter reaches for a calculator, it does not.

Venue management software questions from Singapore
What is venue management software?
It is the system a venue uses to handle enquiries, hold and confirm dates, quote, invoice and track payments, and send event details to the banquet team. For a Singapore venue it should price per table or per head and apply service charge before GST.
Is GST charged on service charge in Singapore?
Yes. IRAS says GST is charged on both the price and the service charge. For S$100 of food with a 10% service charge, GST of 9% is charged on S$110, so the total is S$119.90. Your quote and invoice should calculate it in that order.
Can a venue quote prices before GST?
GST registered businesses normally must show GST inclusive prices. Businesses that genuinely impose a service charge may show prices before GST and service charge if a prominent statement says prices are subject to GST and service charge. The exception does not apply to nominal service charges.
Does Venura support InvoiceNow?
No. Venura creates quotes, invoices and receipts but does not transmit invoice data to IRAS through InvoiceNow. If your business falls under the GST InvoiceNow Requirement, you will need an InvoiceNow ready accounting solution as well.
Does Venura work for Singapore venues?
Yes. Venura runs on the web, Android and iOS, quotes in Singapore dollars with your service charge and GST lines, and tracks deposits, progress payments and event sheets. It is free for 30 days, and pricing for Singapore venues is quoted on request.
When must a venue register for GST?
Registration is compulsory when taxable turnover exceeds S$1 million, measured on either a retrospective or a prospective basis. IRAS explains both tests on its registration page. Many hotel and large event venues are well above the threshold.
